About Bagsley
Bagsley is a shopping butler that lives in a household’s WhatsApp. He is built in the United Kingdom, in public, and he is in private beta.
Why the weekly shop
The weekly shop is a job nobody wants and everybody does. It is spread across four or five people, three chats and a note on a fridge. The tedious part is the copying: turning what a household said all week into a basket at a supermarket. That is where the dullest ten minutes of the week go, and it is exactly the sort of errand a butler should take off your hands.
How he is built
Bagsley meets a household where it already talks, so there is nothing to adopt. He keeps one Shopping List per Household. Duplicate mentions of the same Item merge into a single line. A Preference is asked about once and then remembered. Meals become Items only when somebody confirms them. When the shop is due he loads a supermarket basket, and then he stops.
What we believe about privacy
A shopping list is a household’s private life written down: what you eat, when you are in, what you spend. Discretion is the job, so privacy is built in rather than bolted on. The waitlist stores four things, all of them listed on the privacy page, and none of them are sold or shared. Bagsley never spends your money, because paying is the one step that should always be a person’s.
Where the product is up to
Private beta, with the waitlist open. The Channel is WhatsApp first, and iMessage comes later. Supermarket connections are added one at a time, which is why the waitlist asks which one you shop with. When there is something to try, the people on the list hear first.
